When I finish this quilt and invariably start a more general-purpose quilting blog, it should definitely be named The Cranky Quilter. I’ve got to check if that blog name is already taken.
The reason I’m naming this particular blog post that is because none of my blocks are lining up for sashing lately, and it’s making me quite cranky. Or maybe it’s just that I’m in the homestretch and it seems like I’m doing sashing all the time and I just don’t have the patience for it right now.
It’s probably the latter, because this batch was not too bad. Two of the blocks had points that needed to be lined up with the sashing strips, and that spider web-like block (bottom right) had so many darn seams that it was a challenge to keep it the correct size. The green “sashing” around the edges of the block is not exactly the same width on all four sides anymore.
But it all came together in the end. And, as a bonus, I got this batch of sashing done in the waiting room at the doctor’s office – a place where I was bound to be cranky anyway, so I might as well make progress on the sashing while I’m there.
I’m also doing sashing of tiny triangles within July, in case the last two blocks with tiny triangles somehow don’t count. These tiny triangles I’m sashing are, in fact, the same tiny triangles from Block M8, which I pieced earlier in the month.
We’re getting to that point now, where the blocks get sashed very shortly after they get pieced. It’s all pretty tricky logistically, making sure I’ve got the block done before I need to attach it to the blocks around it, but I’m trying not to let that make me too cranky …
